Kingfisher

Since I went to amazon in 2018 I knew I had to go back. This time, I went to Rio Cuiuni which is about 6 up to 8 hours sailing from Barcelos, almost bordering Colombia and Venezuela. I had the opportunity to spend some time on vacation and do some work to document @kingfisherbrasil's responsible fishing tourism experience. Despite not fishing, it was incredible to understand the dynamics of the operation and the development responsibility they have with tourism and the local people who work in the operation. Talking to some locals, I found that the flood period has been going on much longer in the last 2 years and that at this time, the river should be 2 meters lower and full of sandy beaches. in contrast to this, 2015 was one of the driest periods there, which caused a lot of fires and sailing was practically impossible. This inconstancy in the climate illustrates well that something is out of balance and that the urgent issues of climate and environment are right before our eyes. The lives of all those people who depend on tourism are threatened. We have to live to learn to care. If you have the chance, live. If you dare, care.
